 Legend of the Seeker has aired three episodes so far and is doing pretty well in the ratings. It garnered 5.8 million viewers for the November 1st premiere and the subsequent weeks have held up pretty well with 4.3 million viewers. If the show continues to pull in these sorts of numbers it could very well revive first run syndication as a viable medium. Many have considered first run syndication to be dead since Hercules and Xena left the air.
Legend of the Seeker has stepped into the void in fantasy based television and seems to be filling it. The show, based on the book Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind, follows the journey of Richard Cypher on his quest to fulfill his destiny as The Seeker, a champion against evil. Joining him on his journey are a powerful wizard named Zedd and the mysterious Confessor, Kahlan. While deviating greatly from the book the shows creators Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi have indicated that the true focus of the show will be to stay true to the characters and the spirit of the book. Have they managed this? You'll have to tune in to find out.
