Following the trend of making fantasy books into movies, Coraline by Neil Gaiman is being adapted into the world's first 3D stop motion animated film. Also following the trend the movie is being adapted into a video game by D3Publisher (D3P).
 The game will be available on several gaming platforms including Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and Playstation 2 systems at release. The game will allow players to play from the perspective of Coraline and interact with characters in the story's two distinct worlds; Coraline's normal world and the Other World. It will also include several unique mini-games and adventures with Coraline's friends Wybie and Cat, in which the player will unlock the mysteries of the Other World.
The game is scheduled to be released in January 2009 to help promote the nationwide release of the film on February 9, 2009. The story of Corlaline follows a young girl (Dakota Fanning in the film) as she discovers an alternate version of her world waiting behind a door in her new home. The world at first seems very similar to her world, but soon it turns dangerous and Coraline must use her wits to escape the clutches of her Other Mother.
